Hi Mark. We were in an ampitheatre outside too so they could walk out on our show as well and I know its tough, a distraction too. Dont let it get you down though! I DO feel like we should give each and every performance our all I just remember a dancer once said to me "we are not robots" and it really stuck with me that maybe it is almost impossible to give every single show the same energy, especially when you have 3 or 4 a day to get through. When audiences are bad like that you do question why you do it but for me my love and passion for performing comes through- Van Gogh is a great example and I dance for myself in those situations. I guess maybe we have to remember that a job is a job?? Contracts I have done in the past such as with Spirit of the Dance where I performed the same show for a year I felt like I started to loose the passion and forgot what it was like to really dance again as I was just doing the same steps eight times a week. It became a job and thats why I didnt go back for another year. I needed a challenge, to dance something different. Anyway, rambling on. I am enjoying your videos as it is interesting to hear from your experiences. I am thinking of blogging in the same way when I go to Holland in a weeks time.
Found you on the web Mark. I think ending with positive references to Gardner appropriate - the period after a performance must require a different type of energy than the performance itself.
You are obviously helping to hold up the travel industry as well as your audiences - good luck with your interview tomorrow. Make the most of every opportunity. I read in the
