  2. Hi Mark. Good idea with the video blog especially when you are away. You seem to be reflecting on what you are learning there already. The comment from your stage manager is something I too have heard before. I see what you are saying about giving the same performance no matter what the audience size and I like to think I always try to give my best. However, when I was working at a theme park in the USA we sometimes had audiences of just 30. No matter how much I wanted to do the same show with the same energy, with no atmosphere coming from them it was so hard and to save our energy (4 shows a day) I wouldnt always give my all. We then had a time where the amphitheatre was packed- over 1,000. Automatically there was electricity in the air, nerves were back, adrenaline pumping and the whole cast put on a completely different show. We have to remember we are not robots. It is impossible to give the same amount of energy to every single show. We should try but it does not always happen. I know I would have been annoyed by that comment too though!
As far as the curtain going up 30mins late that would really aggrivate me! You start to loose any adrenadine after a while and its hard to pick yourself up. Interesting to hear the differences in cultures from you. Thanks and look forward to hearing more.

  3. Mark - once again ahead of the game on combining the thoughts, theories and technology. The narrative is strong in what your do. You have mentioned work ethics, culture and performance standards, the phenomenon of the celebrity audience, and health... Looking forward to the next instalment - documenting workplace practice is something to talk about - working without - I notice that your Pan got to wear one...

On the poetry front... I mentioned to Alice a book - just put up on my blog: Sandra Fraleigh called Metaphysics in Motion - I liked it because of the reflection and is from a dance source... with poems as well - very convincing creative discussion but would like to see what others think...
